1 Differences in rank exist more than they distinguish. In turn, «existence is a function of the possible»¹.

2 Truth has a relation to duty: desire helps us fulfill truth. Truth is strategic, desire is tactical.

3 The possible is not existence; something may be possible yet not function, not yet have a function, but every existence (function) must be possible. A good equation describes well the value of art: wealth and universality.

4 The bourgeois has a taboo when it comes to the relation between «wealth and universality»; the same is true of the specialist scientist.

5 Every existence must be possible, but not everything possible exists. Every existence must be possible, but not everything possible is functional.

6 A human being’s possibilities have far more range than they have existence (function), but they exist far more than they distinguish.

Seen within this framework, existence is an intermediate floor, «excluded from the great illumination»; it lies between possibilities and distinction. This is the limit of existentialism.

8 Existence «is» represented possibilities. What relation does this bear to the possibilities that were granted to us?

10 «In the second half of life, do people associate possibilities with their representation? Does this happen because the possibilities granted to them at conception have declined? Are they lost «with time and through time»²?

11 It’s not so much that people always go down the wrong path: they want to forge conformity by way of a dangerous path.

In this respect, a person like that «lives dangerously». But where in their development are they: «in that of the camel, the lion, or the child spinning on its own axis»?

12 Today the «.» after an aphorism’s number is seen as a symptom of AI slop. But we human beings have been embodying that tendency for several years now: a compulsion toward the period, which in turn is reflected in other things too, such as artificial intelligence.

What happens on earth, in a fundamental sense and from the standpoint of the fundamental, happens to all of us. «Acceleration is a terminal symptom, and also a heralding one»³.

A stage of the earth has ended; it will continue, even if some would like a stage to be the end of history.

13 Error: mistaking the end of a stage for the end of an era, or worse still, for a more complete ending; this is an error born of arrogance, of confusing what cannot be fused; money cannot be melted down like gold, it does not preserve its value. Art can be fused; finance can be melted down more than money can—there is more art in that.

14 At this stage of the path we find ourselves on, the period belongs to desire, the lack of a period to duty; the period is tactical, the lack of a period strategic.

15 A new stage of reason comes with another exit from conformity; this is announced by people in the grip of desire, who cannot contain themselves and want to break completely with the past.
